dyne:bolic 2.5.2 LiveCD

dyne:bolic GNU/Linux is a live bootable
distribution, an operating system which
works directly from the CD without the
need to install or change anything on the hard disk.

It is user-friendly, recognizes your hardware devices (sound, video, firewire, and USB) and offers a vast range of software for multimedia production, streaming, 3D modeling, photo, peer-to-peer filesharing, web browsing and publishing, word processing, email, encryption, and networking.
It also includes games and a world navigator.
It does automatic clustering, joining the CPU power between any other dyne:bolic on the local network, and works on modded XBOX consoles as well.

Surf, stream, edit, encode and broadcast both sound and video, all just in one CD you have simply to boot!

Dyne:bolic is shaped on the needs of media activists to eager the production of informations, realizing a full multimedia studio. It takes birth as a grassroot effort to spread free software and the spirit of sharing informations.

=== WHAT'S NEW in 2.5.2

The system is stabilized for  the final release of the dyne:II series.
This  is  a  major   bugfix  for  usb  detection,  encrypted  nesting,
international  keyboard input,  firewire video  capture  and playback.
New software includes darkice/snow, oggfwd and dvgrab for minimalistic
commandline  streaming receipts.   Updated  software include  Blender,
Cinelerra and  FreeJ.  The image.dyne  module is included  by default.
The User's Manual has been completed with more informations.

=== upgrading from version 2

To  upgrade  just replace the dyne/ directory with the new one, or run
the CD and answer yes when prompted.

To upgrade your nest to encrypted the easieast way is
  - backup your home data on the harddisk outside the nest
  - create a new encrypted nest overwriting the old one
  - import manually your data into the new one

=== upgrading from version 1

Upgrade from version 1, or not? here is an overview of reasons:

Pro:
- better usability and stability, support for more devices
- possibility to run from usb and solid state devices
- ability to run in thin-client setups
- cryptographic protection for your privacy 
- gathers more software and can be customized easily

Contra:
- version 2 is not running on XBOX game consoles
- version 2 does not include the OpenMosix clustering system
